Country Club Tasmania boasts an international standard 18-hole golf course in Launceston, originally designed and built as part of the property in 1982 by world famous golfers and course designers Mike Wolveridge and Peter Thomson.
Federal Group developed and has continually operated the Country Club Casino and Resort, located in parkland on the fringe of Launceston. The property was Australia’s first resort-style casino development.
Championship Golf Course A meticulously maintained 18-hole golf course with a mixture of links and parkland styling, large challenging fairways, water hazards and fast greens.
Architects modelled the style and interior design of Country Club on the stately homes of America’s south. Former Chairman Greg Farrell Senior had always admired the simple lines of the US Embassy building in Canberra and believed that the Georgian style would work well in the rural landscape of Launceston.
The casino was a catalyst for growth and development in the region – it is now surrounded by suburbs and local neighbourhoods.
Its beautiful setting yet easy proximity to central Launceston makes it an ideal location to base oneself while exploring the sights of Tasmania’s second largest city. The resort offers a choice of over 200 rooms in a host of options ranging from Luxury Suites in the main complex to self-contained villas at the Country Club Villas.
For guests who are interested in participating in outdoor activities during their stay, the resort is proud to offer a range of options including an 18-hole par 72 golf course. Designed by Mike Wolveridge and British Open Champion Peter Thompson, the challenging course was based on a Scottish design with natural roughs. Other leisure activities include a driving range, horse riding and tennis courts.
Supporting the local community has been crucial to the success of Country Club. Onsite conference and event facilities ensure that the resort is able to cater for all types of functions and events. Immensely proud of the role that they play in the local community, the staff at Country Club are always happy to go above and beyond in assisting guests to celebrate their special occasions.
